DoForMe, anything doable by Doers
We founded Doers based on our own experiences, driven by a passion for helping others.
The Story of DoForMe
DoForMe was founded by James Tan in January 2014, born from a deeply personal experience. While working full-time, James faced the unimaginable loss of his 8-year-old son. During his son’s final weeks, he and his wife took turns staying by his bedside in a sterile hospital room. Every day, James would wake up early, get ready at the hospital, and head to work, while his wife stayed on and they take turns to took over the caregiving responsibilities as she may not be able to take leave on some days.
The Struggle for Support
Throughout this difficult time, James realized how challenging it was to handle everyday tasks and errands and miscellaneous routines while being fully dedicated to his son’s care. He longed for someone—a friend, a helper, or a service—that could run essential errands for him, such as:
- Purchasing necessities and meals
- Buying and feeding pet food
- Handling minor household repairs
- Photocopying and sort and delivering documents
- Running various errands for his aging parents
- select a gift and wrap and pass to a friend
- finish up a jig saw puzzle and delivery to a person
- miscellanous light handyman fix-its around the home
Despite being a senior manager in a logistics company, he found that commercial logistics services only handled large-scale deliveries, not the small yet essential personal tasks that truly mattered.
The Turning Point
As James took prolonged leave to care for his son, his corporate HR eventually asked about his “future plans” implicatively, as the company required full-time commitment.
Then, one fateful day, while working onsite, he received a frantic call from his wife—his son had suddenly gone into a seizure. By the time James rushed to the hospital, it was too late. His son had already been moved to the ICU, and despite doctors’ efforts, he passed away without James getting the chance to see or speak to him one last time.
This devastating experience made James realize the true cost of working full-time when personal responsibilities are just as critical.
The Birth of DoForMe
Once James was able to manage his grief, he created DoForMe.com—not just as a solution for people needing extra help, but also as a platform where others, the “Doers,” could take up flexible assignments for income. This service benefits:
- Those who need urgent, on-demand help for personal tasks
- Individuals who cannot commit to full-time corporate jobs due to caregiving responsibilities or personal constraints
Unlike traditional logistics companies or gig platforms that focus solely on deliveries, DoForMe provides a human touch, allowing Doers to be an extension of your hands and feet, running errands and solving everyday problems and inconveniences.
How It Works
Getting a Doer is simple:
- Contact us via call or WhatsApp with your task request (no rigid apps form filling)
- Negotiate a fair fee for the service
- Make a secure payment via Paylah, PayNow, or bank transfer
- A trusted Doer will report the progress and complete the task professionally
While DoForMe initially invested in iOS and Android apps for task placements, real-world experience showed that customers preferred a more personalized approach—direct communication through WhatsApp or calls. This ensures that every request is clearly understood and handled with care.
More Than Just a Service
DoForMe is built on empathy, experience, and the belief that no one should have to struggle alone. Whether you need help running errands or want to earn flexible income as a Doer, we are here to make life easier for you.
